Banks have made a commitment, during the adoption of the euro, to work longer and provide favourable conditions for a smooth changeover Commercial banks in Lithuania, on Thursday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Good Practice during the Preparation for the Adoption of the Euro with the Bank of Lithuania. The First Stage of Seminars on the Euro: 40 Cities and Towns, more than 2200 Participants Vilnius, 17 June. Today the seminar in Klaipėda ends the first stage of information events on the euro. Laureates of the writing contest “Not afraid of the euro” will receive euro prizes and a silver coin Those who have evaluated the benefits of the euro — Lithuania’s future currency — and have not given in to fear are invited to participate in a writing contest on the topic “Not afraid of the euro” and share their thoughts on why the euro doesn’t pose a threat to them. The winning writer will be announced and rewarded on 23 July. On this same day the Council of the European Union should also publish their final decision on the euro adoption in Lithuania.
