‘Euro League’ to help students make friends with the euro Lithuanian school students have been brought together to a new ‘Euro League’ to exchange knowledge on the euro instead of playing basketball. Initiated by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education and Science, the educational project invites teams of 5th to 8th and 9th to 12th graders to contest in brain battles and to gain a deeper insight into the euro and the practical aspects behind its adoption. Over 1,000 companies commit to fair conversion Based on the figures from 2nd October, more than 1,000 Lithuanian enterprises and other businesses have already undertaken not to use the adoption of the euro as an excuse to raise prices and to adapt them in a fair way. Once they have joined the Memorandum of Good Practices during the Adoption of the Euro, these companies can now mark more than 7,000 points of sale and services with a special label “Converted Fairly”. Price display in Litas and Euros: most complaints are about restaurants and cafes Since beginning of September the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority (VVTAT) has received more than 150 requests related to the Euro adoption. 39 percent of consumers reported price increase or possible incorrect conversion into Euros at catering institutions (restaurants and cafes). 16 percent of the requests are related to price display at consumer goods stores, 14 percent – at beauty and fitness service providers (barber shops, fitness centres).
