The euro was adopted in Lithuania on 1 January 2015. There are many changes related to this event; it is necessary to evaluate how not only municipalities but also companies managed by them have prepared for the euro adoption.
One of the most important issues is the adaptation of accounting-related information technologies for the work with the euro (these costs will be compensated to municipalities by the Government to a certain extent). Municipalities will also have to review charges, public transport ticket and other prices, announce them in two currencies and properly prepare for the provision of information to citizens and businesses on any matters related to the adoption of the euro.
Municipalities are also invited to join the Memorandum of Good Business Practice during the Adoption of the Euro and participate in the competition “Municipality of the Fairest Business”.
